While Satan is a spiritual being who stands under the judgment of God, he still exerts a considerable amount of influence over the events of human history. However, Ezekiel 28:18 indicates that Satan was absolutely and completely cast out of Gods heavenly government and his place of authority (Luke 10:18). And great crowds gathered about him, so that he got into a boat and sat down. As an angel, Lucifer walked on Gods holy mountain and was anointed to serve God as a member of the guardian cherubim, among the highest rank of angels in Gods holy host second only to the seraphim ( Ezekiel 28:14 ). Many of us have heard how Satan is an angel who was cast out from heaven, along with all the other angels who followed him (those whom we now call demons). This view sees Isaiah 14:12-17 as having a dual reference. In the abundance of your trade you were filled with violence in your midst, and you sinned; so I cast you as a profane thing from the mountain of God, and I destroyed you, O guardian cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. In describing this king, Ezekiel also gives us glimpses of the superhuman creature, Satan, who was using, if not indwelling, him. This is the hope we stand on, because of the Cross of Christ. His deadpan delivery makes him one of the funniest characters. He became corrupt, and his name changed from Lucifer All who know you among the peoples are appalled at you; you have come to a dreadful end and shall be no more forever." How you are fallen from heaven, O Day Star, son of Dawn! On the day that you were created they were prepared. Thus, Satans sin was one of pride in rebelling against God and attempting to take from God the praise and glory reserved only for the Lord Almighty. Further, Gods ordination of Lucifer as a cherub demonstrates that God trusted Lucifer enough to give him a position of power among the heavenly angels (Ezekiel 28:14). Those who see you will stare at you and ponder over you: Is this the man who made the earth tremble, who shook kingdoms, How you are fallen from heaven, O Day Star, son of Dawn! The title devil is derived from a Greek word means slanderer. The meaning of the term is very similar to that of Satanan adversary against Gods people who wrongfully accuses them. Your heart became proud on account of your beauty, and you corrupted your wisdom because of your splendor. But he's swayed when Lucifer finally tells the truthas to why he wants to become God - to prove himself worthy of Chloe. As punishment for his disobedience and the grave dishonoring of his angelic post, God cast Lucifer out of heaven by hurling him and his army of fallen angels to Earth (Isaiah 14:15; Ezekiel 28:16-18; Revelation 12:9) and condemning them ultimately to hell (Matthew 25:41).
