Flowrider World Championships 2016

August 2016 saw NDG Specialty surface coatings & NDG Surf was catapulted into the world of Flow boarding.
Flow boarding is a sport and, there is a World Championship series that like most world championships is held in new and exotic locations each year and 2016 was Sentosa Island Wave House was to be the venue for October.
The problem was that Sentosa Wavehouse was one of the first places in the world to have both the Flow Rider and the Flow Wave but after 7 hard years of service the surfaces of the Flow wave and the Flow Rider surfaces were in a bad way and not fit for competition.
The competitors who were coming to battle it out for the world champion crown were at the top of their game and expected the best.
We took the challenge head on and offered a solution that would not only restore the surfaces to their original look and feel but also speed up the flow of water over the surface. Could we do it?
Our solution was to clean the wave of the years of rubber marks, body oils and sunscreen off the wave and then apply 2 coats of a modified version of NDG Surf NDG Hyperseal.
The project starts today.
We gathered at Sentosa in September 2016 on a rainy morning and planned our approach to the project.
We decided to hit the Flow wave first. After working out the concentrate ratio of Bio Crystal Magic cleaner we went hard and in strips. This took 4.5 hours to complete the cleaning.
The Sun appeared and we were baking hot.
Next we got out the mops and coated coated the barrel with 2 coats of NDG Surf Hyperseal.
The Flow wave looked like new!
The following day we move on to the flow rider and carried out our magic there.
Next Alphian the resident mega guru gave the rides an assessment ride.
His comments were “it feels like new but faster” and “I need to relearn some of my tricks”

We setup and in true asian fashion we put a good show with our Flow Board Serum displayed as Chinese fire crackers.
Christopher Soh the Senior Trade commissioner for Austrade who is based at the Australian High Commission Singapore arrived to see what NDG Surf and NDG products were up to. He stayed for 3 hours to meet and greet the competitors and to offer support and congratulations to us for the quality of work and the results we achieved in such a short timeframe.

The World Championship weekend went ahead without a hitch and we were there for every minute of it.
We carried out demo’s on Flow rider boards by coating them with Flow Board Sirum and Flowboard Speed polish. which are products to enhance the look and speed of the Flow rider boards. They work.
NDG products were featured in the Australia Austrade global trade gazette. Which goes to all all Australian Embassy’s and Austrade offices world Wide.
